#togetherapart: Meet Anna
With the #TogetherApart initiative we have collected fun photos, videos, boomerangs and stories from you of your social distancing days and more – so we can all be #TogetherApart.
Hi – I’m Anna
I’m 21 years old
I’m a HAE patient
And I live in Brazil
I hope that HAE patients in the future:
Have access to the appropriate medication, so HAE will not prevent us from having a normal life.
The HAEi Youngsters’ Community is important because:
We support, share experiences and care for each other in a world where few people understand what is it like to deal with HAE. The community makes us realize that we are not alone.
My favorite quote is:
"The purpose of our lives is to be happy" - Dalai Lama
‘Creating a Path to Better Health’ means:
'Creating a Path to Better Health' means creating medical and psychological conditions, as well as a support network for HAE patients to be able to live a normal life.
This is my personal story:
I got my HAE diagnosis when I was 17 years old, after a month at the hospital, an unnecessary surgery and several misdiagnosis. My mother, my two sisters and my grandmother were diagnosed after me, making our lives easier since we are now dealing with something we know. I am a year away from graduating at Dental School, and now I believe I’m starting to know myself better and learning how deal with my HAE.
Living with HAE is not always easy, but I’m grateful to have met so many special friends in our community, who make me feel like I’m not alone.
