#togetherapart: Meet Jasmeen
With the #TogetherApart initiative we have collected fun photos, videos, boomerangs and stories from you of your social distancing days and more – so we can all be #TogetherApart.
Hi – I’m Jasmeen
I’m 16 years old
I’m a HAE patient
And I live in United States
I hope that HAE patients in the future:
Don’t have to go through the pain and suffering I went through to find a proper diagnosis
The HAEi Youngsters’ Community is important because:
Some don’t have the same resources that some of us are lucky to have such as the proper medication, so we can potentially give them the help they need to or motivation they need to feel that they are not alone and people’s are here to help them.
My favorite quote is:
You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get. -Michael Phelps
‘Creating a Path to Better Health’ means:
Less suffering in the world. To live a life with out pain. To accomplish anything we set our mind to and not let this illness define who we are as a person!
This is my personal story:
I first started with symptoms when I 9 years old and I was later diagnosed when I was 14 years at least. I remember going to multiple doctors looking for help and walking out those doors with a misdiagnosis or with nothing at all. All the pokes in my veins, to all the cords attached to my chest, to all the pills I had to take when they weren’t even helping me, to the multiple people that thought I was lying or “crazy”, I grew tired and lost hope, I didn’t want to do anything anymore, I didn’t want to go see doctors anymore, because I got so tired of everything. Until one day, one day, one doctor helped me, he knew exactly what was wrong with me and helped me get a sense of hope back. I’m not the same girl I use to be, I’m living my best healthy life that I can possibly can without letting HAE define me because I meant incredible people and doctors that are willing to help me through the pain I face with HAE.
