#togetherapart: Meet Sarah
With the #TogetherApart initiative we have collected fun photos, videos, boomerangs and stories from you of your social distancing days and more – so we can all be #TogetherApart.
Hi – I’m Sarah
I’m 18 years old
I’m a HAE patient
And I live in United States
I hope that HAE patients in the future:
All have access to medicine
The HAEi Youngsters’ Community is important because:
We get to know about other people around the world who have this rare disorder
My favorite quote is:
“Act as if what you do makes a difference. IT DOES.” -William James
‘Creating a Path to Better Health’ means:
Having a better way to manage HAE in the future
This is my personal story:
Around age 9 I had my first ever swell. Both of my eyes had swelled shut. We all assumed it was just allergies. Until the allergy medicine did nothing. Later on I swelled even more so I was taken to the doctor. She immediately knew it was Hereditary Angioedema. So I was diagnosed at age 9 with type 1 HAE. That’s my story 🙂
